Robert Renner (Langhorne, PA)
$6,786
Robert Renner had a nearly impossible hill to climb heads up against Glenn Engelbert, who had 90% of the chips heads up, and settles for second place after Engelbert flops the wheel on the final hand.
"It could have been worse," says Renner, who was down to 8k at the final table. "I came from less than a big blind to second place. It's hard to be disappointed with that."
The key hand that crippled Renner came against Gabriel Ramos.
Blinds 30k/60k
Renner check-raises the turn on a board of K-Q-5-4-8
Ramos: A-Q-10-4
Renner: Q-10-10-7
Ramos wins the pot with two pairs, Queens and 4s and jumps up to 350k, while Renner loses 175k on the hand and is left with 8k.
Renner survived multiple all-ins and ran up a competitive stack before finishing in second place for $6,786.
