Eric Rappaport (Lansdale, PA)
$45,183
After a back-and-forth heads-up battle lasting more than two hours, Eric Rappaport came out on top, claiming his first Borgata Open trophy, $45,183, and a customized 16 x 20 framed photo with Borgata chip and event information plaque.
The poker professional used to be an online grinder, but has moved to brick-and-mortar since Black Friday, plus grinding online in Mexico. He cashed in the WSOP Main Event this summer (407th place for $28,063) but this is his largest win on record.
He wasn't going to play this event, but decided to late-register. He won a "big flip" early on, and never looked back. He entered day two tied for third in chips, but had dropped to 8th out of ten when they went to the final table. "It was a grind" he said.
About his heads-up opponent Vitor Coelho, Eric said "he showed no emotion, he played tough". He also commented that the Borgata tournament "field sizes and prize pools are really great." When asked what events he would play for the rest of the series, he replied "all of them".
Eric dedicated this win to his father.
Awesome to see. Man has worked hard and deserves this
