Brandon Markland - Day 1B Chip Leader
There was a flurry of activity at the end, but when the chips were counted, early chip leader Brandon Markland (Dover, DE) came out on top.
He finished the day with 639k, good for the $2,000 chip lead bonus and the overall chip lead going into day 2.
Brandon is a poker pro who lives at the beach and calls Deleware Park his home field, where he plays mostly $2/$5 cash games. "This is the first tournament I've played in three years" Brandon told me.
Jimmy Bergen - Second in chips on day 1B
Second in chips was Jimmy Bergen, (Sykesville MD) who earned $1,000 for ending the day with 581k. He will enter day 2 third in chips behind day 1A chip leader Hal Rotholz (628k).
It was a heart-breaker for Romaine Lewis (Bridgeton, NJ) who ended the day with 580k, just 1k short of second place. He'll enter day 2 fourth in chips overall.
All day 1A and 1B survivors will return at 11am Thursday for day two. The final chip counts and table draw for day 2 will be posted in the blog later in the morning. (Check back after 9am.)
