Event 13 - 1st place Kaplan

$260 + $40 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Blinds 150K/300K Ante 40K

Good things do happen to good people, so it was perhaps karma that Perry Kaplan would come out of nowhere to best a tough opponent in Lauren Kepple with a bit of luck and good timing. Kaplan even attempted to give away the tournament when it reached heads up but fate would have none of it as his 5-2 off suit would end up hitting two pair to score a big double up. With those chips just barely finished being stacked, Kaplan would again double up... this time with the better hand in pocket 7's against Kepple's A♠6♠. Perry would have to dodge a ton of outs on the river to survive but he was able to do just that and when he hit an eight on the river on the tournament's final hand to eliminate Kepple, all Perry could do was smile.

"I feel great," said a beaming Kaplan as he posed for pictures with his newly acquired Borgata Poker Open trophy. "I'm going to spend this money on my lovely wife and our wonderful nieces and friends. After all isn't that what life is all about?"

The win couldn't have gone to a nicer guy. Congratulations on your victory Perry!
