Soheb Porbandarwala (Stamford, CT)
$56,170
After being the short-stack three handed, then moving up to middle-stack three handed, then taking the chip lead heads-up, Soheb Porbandarwala came from behind on the final hand to rake all 10 million chips in play and claim his first Borgata Poker Open title and $56,170. He also pocketed seven bounties during the day.
Soheb calls himself a "recreational gambler" who is studying journalism and political science. He didn't have to re-enter this event, but early on during the 800/1,600 blind level, he was all-in with pocket 4s against pocket Aces -- and thought he was headed for the door. Then he rivered a 4 to survive.
He's going to take a vacation with his family, but expects to return for the Championship event.
