$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 17: 2,500/5k/500 ante.
Play has resumed following the break. Two more levels to go before the bag & tag.
That's 80 minutes left for players to vie for the chip lead bonuses, or just hang on to make day two.
Shortly before the break, there were a total of 40 tables remaining, split between the Event Center, the Poker Room, and the Signature Room. That 400 (or fewer) players remaining in today's action.
Average stack is ~141k.

Event 1: Dannenmann Done
$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Color up break after Level 16: 2k/4k/400 ante.
Joseph Silva (Eatontown, NJ) busted everybody's favorite WSOP Main Event runner-up, Steve Dannenmann (Severn, MD).
They both had pocket Aces and were all-in pre-flop.
Joseph made a flush to crack Steve's Aces and send him home. Joseph is up to ~340k.
Players are on a color-up break while the black 100 chips are removed from play.

Shankar Pillai (Commack, NY) is up to ~420k and leading as they head into the home stretch.
At last check, Anthony Licastro was up to ~380k.

Event 1: Boffice Back From Break
$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 16: 2k/4k/400 ante
Players are back from break, settling in for the last three levels of the night.
Pasquale Boffice (Manahawkin, NJ) said his wife is following his progress on the blog. He asked me to tell her he said "I love you" and report that he's doing "fair".
The fact that he is still alive in an event that has seen the departure of more than 3,700 entrants is more than "fair".

This guy is up to 350k and possibly the chip leader here in the Event Center. "I copyrighted my name" he told me. We're going to have trouble if he makes the final table.
Then I went to google and found this:
"Subject Matter of Copyright
Under section 102 of the Copyright Act (title 17 of the U. S. Code), copyright
protection extends only to “original works of authorship.” The statute states
clearly that ideas and concepts cannot be protected by copyright. To be
protected by copyright, a work must contain a certain minimum amount
of authorship in the form of original literary, musical, pictorial, or graphic
expression. Names, titles, and other short phrases do not meet these
requirements."
He meant to say that he trademarked his name, which is entirely possible. He's also giving us his permission to use his name.

Event 1: Stack Watch 2013 Update
$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400/300 ante
A couple more big stacks are developing in the front of the room.
Borgata regular Chris Bourassa (Leesburg, VA) is up to 232k.
Steven McKoy (Coral Springs, FL) is up to 235k. He's not a familiar face around here and came up for this series. He plays poker for a living back in Florida where the action is good, but he couldn't pass up this $2 million guarantee.
Early big stack Brandon Markland is up to ~240k.

$2 Million Guarantee (Day 1B) Video Montage
It was clear last night when the registration lines were beginning to grow as early as 8:00pm, that Day 1B would have some serious numbers. The players had no problem lining up this morning to get a hold of an entry slip, guaranteeing them a chance at this massive prize pool. We saw many faces that were in the room yesterday, but of the 2,812 entries that made their way through the door today (for a Borgata record-setting 4,482), many were taking their first crack at it:
Event 1: Aces Good for Gay
$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400/300 ante
Blinds have gone up as more players exit the main event.
Thanks to getting pocket Aces twice in three hands, Joe Gay (Brooklyn, NY) is chipping up nicely.
First he doubled up with pocket Aces, then a couple of hands later, he raised to 7k, then the player on his left shipped his stack in.
After everyone else got out of the pot, Joe rolled over pocket Aces (again). His unlucky opponent had pocket Kings.
The board changed nothing and Joe pulled another pot, chipping up to ~140k.

Event 1: Little Man Back at Borgata
$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 13: 1k/2k/300 ante
Perennial poker favorite Mike 'Little Man' Sica (E Brunswick, NJ) is back at Borgata. He was missed greatly during the Borgata Summer Poker Open while he was battling lung cancer.
Mike's smiling face has not been seen in the Event Center today, but he was tracked down in the Signature Room where he has been playing all day. As of the dinner break, he's doing OK with 55k, a little below average, but at 27.5 big blinds when play resumed after dinner.
Mike said "I want to thank the good Lord for allowing me to play in this tournament. I'll be playing as many as I can. God bless everyone and thanks for all the texts and messages I got. Every day is a fight, but I'm hanging in there."

Level 12: Blinds 800/1,600/200 ante
Before the blinds went up, David Rittmeyer (Towson, MD) got his short-stack all-in holding A9 offsuit, only to run into a small blind holding pocket Queens.
The small blind had an even shorter stack, however, and busted out when an Ace flopped.
David, who is a regular face here at the Borgata tournaments, chipped up to ~23k. David's best finish here was a 3rd place in the $400 NLH event during the 2011 Borgata Summer Poker Open. That earned him $6,340.

Mikey Summers (Charlottesville, VA) is itching to get to dinner and sweating Rick Rossetti (Ventnor, NJ), who unfortunately can now join him before the ~7:15 pm dinner break.
Rossetti is out when his pair of 7s and OE straight draw don't improve against a pair of 8s.
Summers bagged 78k (10 bb) on Day 1A and is relaxing on his off day. Before his elimination, Rossetti joked that he wanted to catch their friend "Karate" Mike Santoro (Egg Harbor, NJ) who finished third on Day 1A with 528k, just missing the end of night chip bonus.
"Write that he came back and did a victory lap," for doing so well, said Rossetti.
No word if the trio will be dining at Izakaya, Old Homestead or Bobby Flay's .

The overwhelming player support to surpass the $2 Million Guaranteed Prize Pool is something Borgata Poker truly appreciates.
The last two days have been a whirlwind and we're proud to say that every alternate, who was present when their spot was available, got into the field. And those who registered online and arrived on time also got their seat.
It took a lot of hustle and juggling by the Borgata Poker team to keep things running as smoothly as possible.
A big, "Thank You," to everyone, especially the players, who made the opening event of the 2013 Borgata Poker Open a huge success!

PS Registration is open for tonight's 7 pm Black Chip Bounty with little or no wait.
Event 1: No More 2nd (or 3rd...or 7th) Chances
$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 11: Blinds 600/1,200/200 ante
No more re-entries means no more life lines, and knockouts are fatal (when talking about tournament lives).
Steve Caizzi (Bridgeport, CT) sends two people home with QQ against KK and 88.
The player with pocket 8s hit his set on the turn, but Caizzi uses his two-outer magic to river a higher three of a kind.
Caizzi adds 57k to his stack and is up to 64k.

Event 1: Muscles Flexes His Muscles
$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 10: Blinds 400/800/75 ante
Players are back in action and registration is closed, so once the last re-entries are processed, there will be no more.
Tables will start to break down rapidly now.
During the previous level, Tony 'muscles' Campagna took his turn with the ALL IN button.
Three players were looking at a flop of Q♣7♠5♠ and the player in seat 1 bet 3,100.
Tony exercised his muscles, moving all-in for 16k. One player folded quickly, then the player in seat 1 took a few moments. He decided to fold and showed his pocket Jacks.
Tony collected the pot and showed his semi-bluff with the 9s8s (flush draw, gutshot straight draw, and gutshot striaght-flush draw).
Sorry, rabbit-hunting is not allowed.

Break Time - Level 10 Next: Blinds 500/1,000/100 ante
A "quick scan," aka 20 minute walk through the Event Center, reveals the big stacks are in the 150k range.
Chris Gwizdala (Asburn, VA) is at 155k and is the Event Center chip leader poster child. We'll check the Twitter feed for big stacks from the Signature and Poker Rooms.
Players are on a 20 minute color-up break as the green (25) chips are removed from play.

Event 1: ALL IN Buttons Debut at BPO
$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 9: Blinds 400/800/75 ante
For the first time during a Borgata Open tournament series, "ALL IN" buttons are being used.
Each table has a big red button that says "ALL IN" and it gets placed in front of the first player to get all his chips in the middle. The idea is to make sure everyone is aware of the all-in, even if they didn't hear the player or dealer announce it.
I recently caught the big red button in use back in the back of the Event Center.
After an opening raise to 1,200 and a call by Mike 'Mad Dog' Shasho (Ramsey, NJ), Keith Crowder (Elkins Park, PA) moved all-in for 9,425.
The opener folded and Mad Dog gave it some thought, then tossed in the call. "Don't watch this" he told me, as he rolled over his 83.
Keith was ahead with AJ and the board bricked out. Keith's Ace-high was good for a double-up.

Event 1: Last Level to Enter
$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 9: Blinds 400/800/75 ante
After two days of building and surpassing the $2 Million Guaranteed prize pool, there's only 40 minutes left to enter the tournament.
As the last level begins, we see a 4-way all-in between Mike Shasho (Ramsey, NJ) who has everyone covered, David Peay (Charlotte, NC) and two other players.
Player A: J 5
Player B: A 10
Peay: AQ
Shasho: 44
Flop: J 9 10 (Player A pair of Jacks, Player B pair of 10s, Peay OE straight draw)
Turn: J (Player A trip Jacks, no change for Player B & Peay)
River: 8
"Straight," says Peay, "I get it all." The Queen-high straight wins Peay the 45k pot and knocks two players out; Shasho is left with 25k.
Players can still re-enter during this level and through the break; short stacks can surrender their chips and re-enter with a fresh 20k stack.

The fact that (Newark, NJ) is keeping up his energy with Gummi Bears isn't a big deal until you see him enjoying a three pound bag of them.
"Where do you get a three pound bag," asks one player in amazement. Walgreen's is the answer.
"If I make it to tomorrow (Day 2), they'll be gone," says Asuquo who cashed in this event for $2,200 ($150th) 2012, "I need the sugar to keep my energy up on these long days."
Players are looking forward to the next break which happens at the end of the level at 2:40 pm.

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 5: Blinds 150/300/25 ante
As stacks get shorter, three-way all ins are becoming more common place.
Three-time Borgata trophy winner Jeff Papola (Monmouth Beach, NJ) is on the bottom end of a QQ vs JJ vs 10 10 all in.
"Perfect timing," laughs Papola who waits for a re-entry ticket which are in high demand.
Jason Holzberg (New York, NY) wins the hand with QQ and takes his stack to 55k after taking Papola's last 7k and another 20k from the third player.

Event 1: Kings for a Day
$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 3: Blinds 75/150
A three-way all in gives Jim Bilotti (New York, NY) a double knockout and a healthy 60k stack.
On a flop of K 8 6 Bilotti has top set against, bottom set for Felix Mok (Brooklyn, NY) and a third player holding AK.
It was the second time Bilotti had pocket Kings and he's gotten them twice more, once while retelling his good fortune.
The table features local grinder "Action" Bob Hwang (Barnegat, NJ) and Ken Silberstein (Edison, NJ) who said he'd be back after busting with missed draws on Day 1A.
And while we're at the table, in a blind vs blind hand, Vinny Pistorino (Bronx, NY) looks at the camera and says, "this is for the blog, I'm all in."
Bilotti folds from the SB and Pistorino shows pocket Aces. On the next hand, Bilotti raises and wins the pot saying, "I have to show it," and has KK, again.
"I'm just glad I didn't have them last hand," he smiles.
Mok's identity was unknown until we checked the Twitter feed:
